The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been established in 2008. In 2012, a PG programme ME - Power Electronics and Drives was introduced. The UG Course offers a 4-year B.E Electrical and Electronics Engineering Programme with an intake of 60 students, and the PG Course offers a 2-year M.E - Power Electronics and Drives with an intake of 18 students, approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
We have a fine blend of dynamic and experienced faculties who are well trained in the areas of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives, Control Systems, Smart Grid, e-Vehicle, Renewable Energy, and Internet of Things to provide quality education.
The laboratories are well equipped to reflect the rapidly changing trends in technology. The department holds several national-level conferences, seminars, and workshops. These provide a platform for the staff and students to share their views and experience among industrialists, fellow researchers, and academicians in the emerging areas of electrical engineering.
We have a creditable record of placement among our students who were placed in many leading organizations like Yamaha Motors, Schneider Electric, Supreme Plastics, Zaron Plastics, Jayalakshmi Auto Works, Sanmina, Mcoreta, Flipkart, Hexaware Technologies, ZF Rane, Pegatron Technology, Bhumi, Wipro, One Yes InfoTech Solutions, etc. Our department has signed MOUs with various companies like Mcoreta, ABE Semiconductor, etc. They extend their support to us in academic projects, internships, technical seminars, workshops, and value-added courses for the students and faculty members.
The Department has many industry-sponsored advanced laboratories for carrying research and development. The Department has set up laboratories with excellent infrastructure in the areas of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, and Power Electronics & Drives. Faculties are actively involved in R&D activities and are working on research projects. The curriculum and syllabus for the programmes offered in the department are designed as per the Regulations of Anna University. The undergraduate degree courses offered by the department provide a comprehensive foundation in the core topics of EEE coupled with areas of specialization relevant to emerging engineering challenges.
